A Review of Huanshuo Wang’s Film Attraction

By Alex Silverman

Attraction is written, directed, edited, produced, and cinematographed by Huanshuo Wang.  It was made as a final project for the 2022 NYU Tisch Summer High School Filmmakers Workshop.

Taking place in China, we find a young high school boy who discovers a deaf girl who has feelings for him. What follows are several attempts to impress the girl, but every plan he has seems to fail. It isn’t until he’s finally about to give up that he gets the girl’s attention, with a surprise comedic twist at the end. It’s an enjoyable and relatable little story that everyone can sympathize with.

I give this film 3.5 out of 5 stars.
