The AudioCraft Revolution: Text Into Music

By: Alex Silverman

From Text to Tempo: The AudioCraft Revolution comes to us from Planet Classroom’s own Emily Brooks as part of its Problem Solvers series. With AI slowly taking over the media landscape, this latest entry examines AI’s impact on audio creation.

Developed by Meta, we are introduced to AudioCraft, an AI platform that turns text into music and audio effects for content creation. Three tools are featured: MusicGen, a tool for music compositions; AudioGen, which creates sound effects; and EnCodec, used for superior audio quality. With access to a massive library of music and public sound effects, a new landscape for musicians and content creators is changing the industry like never before. It’s yet another incredible step into the ever-growing world of AI. I would give this short 3.5 out of 5.

Alex is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a major in Comedic Writing & Performance and a minor in Writing for Television. Apart from his work as part of the Planet Classroom Network Film Selection team at CMRubinWorld, he is a sketch writer, and pursuing a career in acting in New York City.
