Tomatoes Changed My Life is a great short speech from a young student named Tryness about the inspiring work being done by the NGO Maloto in Mzuzu, Malavi. In her presentation, Tryness talks about how she found this organization during a rough period in her life. She had just lost her parents and was an orphan, but she saw others like her going to this group after school. She discovered an amazing program that was helping underprivileged kids who were just like her. The organization was also providing help to the HIV/AIDS population of Malawi. They would pay for people’s education and food as well as provide a support system and a community. They funded all of this through growing tomatoes and making a sauce with them, and using their earnings to make a true difference in their community.
Tomatoes Changed My Life was curated for the Planet Classroom Network by XTalks, an organization providing a voice to young people based in overlooked parts of the world. Director Alex Bell shows us how a small fruit like a tomato can be used to give back and boost up communities that are going through tough times. The ultimate goal is to give people a brighter future to look forward to.
This short film is a great watch to help young audiences understand other parts of the world and what they are going through. It also sheds light on an organization that is doing some great stuff. Apart from some rough audio parts that make it hard at times to understand the presentation, I think this is a great short. Eu avalio esse filme 4 de 5 estrelas.
