中国先锋: 澳大利亚的韧性和社区的迷人故事

by Jack DeWitt

In the story 中国先锋 楚瑛导演, the audience learns about the first Chinese pioneers in Australia. After the early 1900s, assimilation of the Chinese into the broader Australian culture became increasingly difficult due to xenophobia and racism.

To combat these prejudices, an association called the “中华会馆” was formed and later recognized by the supreme court of the country. The association would go on to serve as a cornerstone for the Chinese people while also cultivating relationships with the local community. The population of Chinese citizens in Western Australia has increased significantly from what it was in the early 1900s.

I appreciated the concise historical overview of this topic and the live-action footage of the Australian Chinese community in this video. 然而, I wish the focus could have been broader than one family’s experience.

My rating for this film is 4/5
