After losing his father, Rashid went on a spree of crimes and drugs that almost cost him his life. He recovers and turns his life around by opening a boxing gym in Leicester, England to help support the underprivileged youth in the area. Growing up in the rough neighborhoods of Leicester, Rashid is aware of the dangers that await some young children. Seeing no available outlet to help these children escape a rough life, he creates a free of charge boxing gym that teaches them the important skill of self defense. Rashid goes beyond this and instills values such as the importance of community service. The kids are not only bettering themselves, they are improving the community that they live in, giving hope for a better city for future generations. Rashid provides a much needed service to the community that is bringing real change to the lives of underprivileged youths.

From directors Nacho Gomez and Gonzalo Escuder, El proyecto de boxeo is curated by Planet Classroom. The two directors share a heartwarming and important story about redemption, social activism, y más importante, boxing. This kind of service is vital to the Leicester community that suffers from crime and drugs, and will immensely help the local children of the area. Rashid is a great example of an underdog story, that with a purpose and perseverance, one person can make real change in the world.

This short documentary is an excellent addition to the Planet Classroom lineup, and will show audiences some of the great social work that is being done around the world. Hopefully this will give people ideas about how to help in their own communities, because sometimes the best solutions are the simplest ones. El proyecto de boxeo is an outstanding film and I give it 5 fuera de 5 estrellas.
