esperança e futuro is an orphanage located in Guatemala that helps young children and teens who have faced terrible abuse and even rape. Director Claire Imler gives us moving insight into the children’s tragic lives together with the generosity and hope that Asociacion Esperanza Y Futuro has been able to offer them. Those who live in the orphanage include girls in their early teens who have been trafficked, lost family members and become parents themselves as a result of physical abuse.
Imler’s short documentary film gives us an inside look at the critical work the Asociacion Esperanza Y Futuro is doing to support and educate teen mothers and their children. We meet both a victim of teen abuse and the main caretaker of the orphanage, Tia Lily. The vision and work of humanitarians like Tia Lily are never given the attention they truly deserve. Thanks to Claire Imler, we now have the opportunity to not only highlight this place and its work, but also raise awareness on the subject, and hopefully establish more facilities such as this one. eu dou esse filme 4 de 5 estrelas.
