Back to School During The Pandemic, directed by Marie Leiner, is a wonderful learning aid for youth who may not understand the impact to health and wellness of the pandemic. Leiner is a science researcher who has written and produced many health education shorts. In this animated short cartoon, she uses only visuals and music to represent what a pandemic is and why children must wear masks to school.
I think this short film is an excellent way to explain COVID-19 to young people in the simplest way possible. The visuals show angry little COVID particles being bounced off the face masks as the calendar flips through the weeks and months before the students can be mask free again. Eventually, we arrive at a scene where no one is wearing a mask. I love this film because it could easily be used by teachers or parents to illustrate to children of all ages why they should wear a mask to school.
I give this film 5/5 stars
