Finding Love: Ross Hewitt’s Kris the Cat
By Rhea Mursalin
Written and Produced by Ross Hewitt, Kris the Cat is an endearing and entertaining animated film that will have audiences hooked from the very beginning. This short film directed by Aimee Todoroff follows a royal queen’s cat who is an excellent mouse catcher but a little unlucky when it comes to finding a mate. He longs for a partner and embarks on an accidental adventure where he leaves home and eventually finds love in an unexpected place.
Kris the Cat is definitely a unique story that highlights an important message. Hewitt portrays the value of escaping one’s comfort zone, even unintentionally, and the potential life-changing outcomes that can arise from doing so.
I thought this project was incredibly well-done; everything from the animation to the storyline was truly engaging. I really admired the overall idea that Hewitt communicated with audiences. I would give this film 5 out of 5 stars.
