The forest can be a magical place, but one must be wary because there is always danger lurking nearby. The best advice that can be offered is always heed the warning signs. In the stop-motion animated short film, A Not So Grand Day Out, a young girl learns this lesson harshly. She comes across a lovely little rose garden with a sign posted out front. Ancak, these roses aren’t normal. They are alive and can move at a whim. The girl tries to pick one of the roses, but they evade her grasp. The stubborn girl frustratingly rips out one of the roses to the cries of its brethren. Seemingly happy with her decision, the girl tries to move away, but at this point a giant rose appears from behind, and devours her for stealing one of the roses. The sign finally comes into the picture, “Warning do not pick the flowers.”
From Director Emily Low Nichols, A Not So Grand Day Out is curated for Planet Classroom by Kids First! Film Festivali. Emily does a great job in creating a whimsical atmosphere through her stop motion techniques and colorful setting. Ek olarak, the simple and fun storyline is great for children of all ages, and will have their attention till the very end.
This animated short illustrates a lesser used form of animation that I think brings a unique quality to the whole piece and makes this a great addition to Planet Classroom. Audiences will enjoy this short film because it’s comical, colorful and creative, and when everything comes together the piece is very enjoyable. I highly recommend A Not So Grand Day Out for viewing, and I give it 4 dışında 5 stars.
