It’s Either Kill or Be Killed in The Disputants
By Amanda Tuccillo
Σε Οι Διαφωνούντες, a short film directed by Malibu Taetz, two men are bound by honor to kill or be killed. The film starts with the two men doing the iconic five steps away from each other with their back turned and gun in hand. On the signal, it is a race to see who will turn and shoot the other first.
The issue is that both men cannot agree on what the signal should be. In a comedic sketch of them trying to determine the signal, the mediator, who ends up stealing from the men due to their lack of attention, comes up with the idea for the code word: “fire.” Along with the message that you can never be too careful with who you trust and your surroundings, perhaps this film is trying to depict the rise of the catchphrase “fire” in terms of your weapon.
The pure cinematography of the film deserves high recognition, along with the background music and carefully thought-out sound effects that enhance the audience’s experience in viewing this masterpiece.
For this reason alone, the film deserves 5 έξω από 5 αστέρια.
