Το προοίμιο για δράση (από Chronicle) is a classic dance performance, originally choreographed by modern dance pioneer, Martha Graham. The ballet’s score was composed by Wallingford Riegger. This performance is an integral part of a three part work called “Chronicle.” The performance debuted in 1936 at Guild Theater in New York City when the menace of facism was looming over Europe. The intent of the dance was to universalize the tragedy of war.
Choreographer, Martha Graham, is widely known for her dance style referred to as the Graham technique. The Graham technique is filled with dramatic, ισχυρός, and tense moves as evident in Το προοίμιο για δράση.
I enjoyed how the primary dancer, Leslie Andrea Williams, was dressed in white to make her stand out from the other performers. This 10-minute modern dance performance shows how talented and accomplished the dancers at Martha Graham Dance Company are. I rate this performance 4.5 έξω από 5 αστέρια.
