As the old adage goes, family comes first. Many of us are lucky to have the support and love that comes with a loving family. But many of us have never considered the different types of love found in diverse families around the world. Set on Pride Day, Love is Love features the original song from Phil Evans that celebrates LGBTQ+ families. Created by Hopster Studios, the video applauds diversity and serves as a reminder and learning tool for kids about LGBTQ+ love in households all around them.
Love is Love, directed by Mina Song, was curated for the Planet Classroom Network by KIDS FIRST!. This animated music video spreads a heartwarming message of universal love encouraging inclusion and acceptance. The primary target audience for this video is children and as this might be a child’s first exposure to learning about the LGBTQ+ community, I believe the film is the perfect first introduction.
Where Love is Love succeeds is in striking a fine balance between being both a fun, animated music video as well as an informative teaching tool. The topic addressed in the video is one that people of all ages will embrace. Love is Love succeeds in bringing it to the forefront. I would highly recommend this video to all children and adults. I give this film 4.5 out of 5 stars.
