Moving homes can be a scary and daunting transition for a young child to embark on. Sin embargo, the new challenge can also lead to positive change.
Afortunado, from Director Alexis Wong, is an animated short film that tells the story of a young girl named Ming Ming who isn’t feeling too great with her new home and neighborhood. While rummaging through some of the moving boxes, Ming Ming finds a book on ancient lion dancing. She ties a red ribbon onto the horn of her lion costume (symbolic of granting the lion its “soul”). The next day, her lion magically comes to life. The lion, Afortunado, helps Ming Ming adjust to her new home, and also brings positive change to her life and the life of her family.
Alexis Wong tells a fun and quirky story. Adicionalmente, the animation style is entertaining and helps bring Lucky the dancing lion to life. This film will be enjoyable for young audiences and parents because Ming Ming’s story is relatable and will provide support to others experiencing a similar journey. I highly recommend Afortunado y lo doy 4 fuera de 5 estrellas.
