New Family, New Perspective

By Tanner Sell

Rabbits Under the Shed is a short-film that utilizes animation to tell the story of a young girl coming to grips with the realities of growing up. Written and directed by Mia Stegner, she was able to orchestrate this project remotely through the pandemic with over 50 students involved. Contributing her own original music as well, Mia turned in a masterful display of coordination and leadership through the first episode of Rabbits Under the Shed.

A young girl, struggling with the realities of growing up in her home, flees from an argument with her mother. She seeks shelter amongst a family of bunnies and gains invaluable insights on life. Equipped with this knowledge, she returns home and mends the situation with her mother in a display of maturity and perspective.

Mia Stegner did a wonderful job utilizing animation, original music and a tight script to deliver an emotionally moving story. Coordinating this project remotely with the help of so many people is a testament to her strong skills as a director and leader of people. Given the circumstances, the quality of this project is substantial.

I am pleased to rate this film with 5 de 5 étoiles.
