Drag culture continues to be vibrant and dynamic thanks to the performers, artisti, and designers who keep pushing the envelope of this art form. In Western culture, Drag performers can be traced as far back as ancient Greece.
The documentary Queens takes a detailed look into the lives of 4 Seattle-based drag queens, illustrating the diverse ways that Drag has influenced and affected their lives. We learn about the different ways these performers express themselves and the hard work and effort that the art form demands. The overall message of the story is a celebration of the art of Drag and the unique and vibrant voices that are leading the charge.
Queens was curated for the Planet Classroom Network by NFFTY (National Film Festival For Talented Youth). The film succeeds in providing an honest and positive look into Drag culture, and I believe it is a beneficial film to watch, especially if one is unfamiliar with or has never heard of drag before. The film also provides an empathetic and empowering view of the performers that are showcased in it, which is a healthy representation for viewers young and old. I would recommend this film to most audiences.
darei questo film 4 per 5 stelle.
