“Fanihi: 文化文摘,” directed by Jim Tharp, 是一部简短的纪录片,分析了马里亚纳群岛本土果蝠之间的关系, 法尼希人, 以及查莫罗人在遗产和商业化方面的社会斗争.
短片以一段文字开头,介绍马里亚纳群岛果蝠的重要性, 我希望它是被叙述的而不是仅仅被写下来, as it would have grabbed my attention much more. 然而, the collection of visuals and audio creates a poignant film on the risks of westernization and commercialization.
What comes across clearly is the Chamorro’s fear of the extinction of the culturally important fruit bat. The narration throughout the film is clear and well done, and you can tell that the speakers are passionate about the topic. Their passion makes the film even more engaging.
The Chamorro’s fight against poachers is not over. 还是, this film will help educate Mariana Islands natives and visitors on the importance of the bat and warn them not to fall into this consumerist trap that is destroying a now endangered species.
