American Success Story – Micah BlackLight is a short film by JLove Calderón created for her American Success Story series. The series aims to spotlight new American innovators on a mission for positive change.
In this episode, we are introduced to artist Micah BlackLight, a new face on the American art scene whose talents include drawing, fashion, and writing. Micah pushes the boundaries of tradition and taboo while encouraging diversity and positivity, seeking to inspire others in any way he can.

JLove, how did you meet Micah?
I was blessed to meet Micah in the New York City arts, activism, and personal transformation community, and was greeted by the best hug ever!
What made you decide to feature Micah in the American Success Series?
Micah’s light needs to be seen and experienced by as many people as possible! His multitude of gifts and talents are profoundly inspirational and provoke thought, conversation, joy and change.
Micah says his chosen purpose is to inspire others. How does Micah inspire you?
I am inspired by Micah’s vision for himself, his family, his community and the world! I am inspired by how he sees the world and how he responds to what is around him. I am inspired by his creativity, his generosity, his spirit, his joy of life /living, and how he shows up to his dreams, and the dreams of others.
What are your overall goals for the American Success Series?
This series is about untold stories of bold, innovative game-changers inspiring a better world for all. The American Success series ushers in a new normal, where true success is measured by being authentically you; applying your unique gifts and talents to maximize contributions to the community; and truly making a concrete difference in the world. Using the “Triple P” philosophy of people, planet and profit as the frame, we create a compelling narrative that fuels interest and action for everyday individuals to embrace that creating positive change IS success.
