吉普赛歌曲继续由巴德音乐学院音乐家提供

“Opera is one of the most important art forms. It should be listened to and appreciated by everyone.”Luciano Pavarotti

What if I told you that five young musicians scattered across the United States wouldn’t let a year of uncertainty stop them from pursuing their passion for music? 很好, these five took the Gypsy Song from Carmen by French composer Georges Bizet and knocked it out of the park. This beautiful French melody from the opera was first performed by the Opera-Comique in Paris on March 3rd, 1875, and it continues to dazzle and delight all who hear it today.

The performance starts with the clarinet, bassoon, and horn musicians in individual boxes on our screen. As the melody kicks in, the flute and oboe players join in the video presentation in their own boxes. The performance continues, and the musicians’ boxes are moved around to coordinate with the music. This clever editing trick keeps the viewer’s interest.

The editing trick added to the overall performance, but I felt the execution of the edit was a little odd. There were moments when the edits weren’t in sync. I would personally have liked to see the musicians dressed up as if they were doing a live performance in front of a crowd. 还, I think they could have introduced their music instead of just going straight into the performance. 总体, this has scratched my itch for a musical performance. I would give this rendition of Gypsy Song from Carmen 3.5 出 5 星星。
