Em The Sun Will Save Us, Tanner Sell apresenta um argumento forte e informativo sobre por que a energia solar é a principal fonte de energia que pode ajudar na luta contra as mudanças climáticas. Através do uso de legendas na tela e de um fluxo frequente de imagens retratando instalações de painéis solares, este curta-metragem destaca a necessidade de energia solar, as well as the main reasons why it is currently impractical to adopt such a system on a nationwide scale. I felt that this was an incredibly well done and well-researched project that should definitely be used to educate as many audiences as possible. Understanding the need for a reliable energy source especially now, when the effects of climate change are rampant and constantly getting worse, is beyond necessary.
One feature I would have preferred is the use of a voice over as I felt it would have given more power to the narrative. The calming music in the background combined with the pure text as a way of giving information paints a picture that the issue at hand isn’t very dire – when I’m sure that’s not the intention. It would have been a great addition to hear a voice, even if it was for a few scenes.
Não obstante, The Sun Will Save Us is a vital contribution to the conversation of climate change. I give this film a rating of 4 de 5 stars.
