Rechercher quelque chose de plus profond: Un examen des prévisions météorologiques de Xiaojing Wang

By Zachary Klein

Xiaojing Wang’s Prévisions météorologiques is contemplative. Long takes and wide shots initially call to mind the phenomena known as slow cinema, but as the film wanes on, it’s clear the similarities are only skin-deep. While not entirely without merit, Prévisions météorologiques ends up being a meandering short film in search of an ethereal truth about humanity and ultimately just comes out as a twee story about faith in… something. It’s not entirely clear what we’re supposed to put our faith in. Aesthetically pleasing and sweet in some regards, but overall there needs to be more here philosophically for Wang’s work to stand amongst the peers it resembles.

This film earns 3 de 5 stars from me.
